"Newbie" salt water flush question
 

Forgive the ignorance of my question... I'm a fresh water boater. I'm taking my Pantera to Navarre/ Destin for Labor day weekend, on a painted Myco (c-channel- no box frame cavities).

I bought the flush kit from Marc/Bam for my XR, and found ramps with fresh water as well as a hotel with good parking and fresh water hose for me to use.

I'm a little anal, but also a little practical- is it sufficient (As opposed to sacrilege or barely acceptable) to flush once on Monday (boat exterior, drive/engine and trailer/spring packs) vs doing the same routine Sat night, Sun night and monday afternoon? It's a fast and furious mini vacation- don't want to cut into the fun time too much. This will be the first salt since the boat was tested new. won't see any more til maybe next yr for a similar trip. still have six+ weeks of fresh water boating at home too for the ultimate flush. Thanks in advance for your feedback.

The engine and drive was made by Merc with salt in mind , so a weekend won't really make much difference. As to a painted steel trailer , they were made WITHOUT salt in mind , unless of course they're figuring selling you a new one in 5 years :rolleyes: . I would DEFINITELY rinse the trailer off. Salt loves steel :( . You will also find dried up gritty salt residue on vertually everything that comes in contact with the water. That's why I try to stay in fresh myself.

i've never had the chance to boat in freshwater. i live at the jersey shore and i make it a point to fresh water flush my boat after every single use. the key is to flush "BEFORE" salt has a chance to dry. if you have the source to flush it immediately after it comes out than i would definately do so...BEST 3-5 minutes per motor you could spend. AGAIN JUST MY OPINION...
