bravo gimbal bearing removal

I have a Bravo III with a corroded gimbel bearing. The service manual calls for a slide hammer puller or, in tough situations, an inside puller. I have tried to make one which needs a hardened parts over haul or I need to find one that works. Then what about driving in the new bearing.

For really bad ones....

Hook up inside puller tool to a 3" tow strap wrapped around a BIG tree
Strap the boat to the trailer REALLY tightly

Hook up big truck and YANK!

Don't laugh, this is what it took to get one out.
