Procharger pullies

Who has changed the Procharger pulley on the unit and what is involved in changing this?

I changed gears in lower unit and slowed my engine RPM's down and now I want my boost back.
Is Procharger(Accessible Technologies) the only and most reasonable place to buy a new pulley, other threads mention a name or two that sell them, but need more details?

I have a couple, how many groves and what size do you need?

Re: Procharger pullies

After speaking with Procharger you only have to remove the one bolt and the pulley is on a keyway and it pops off, you may have to start it with a gear puller. They indicated it was no big deal at all. They run about $95.00 a piece for new pullies. Marc is kind enough to be checking his stock for some extra pullies he may have on hand.

Re: Procharger pullies

Sometimes it is better to pull the procharger off the motor to change pulleys,on mine it is so close to back seat you would have to whack pulley with something to get it to come off in boat (no room for puller).I have 3 pulleys i'd like to sell (cheap)-8rib,7/8's bore for m-3sc,4.500 dia,4.250dia,3.850 dia,Smitty

When changing pulley, loosen bolt on pulley before you loosen the belt. The belt will help keep the pulley from spinning. The pulley's come in 8 & 12 rib with different back spacing. It's easy to change.

I am pretty sure that mine are the twelve groove design. I will double check on mine with the backspacing as well.

Re: Procharger pullies

The M4 has 12 rib belt. Crank pulley is 8.5" & pulley on procharger is 5.5, or 5". I tried to buy a new belt from Gates but their 12 rib belts have a totaly different rib spacing then the belt prochrger uses. I am guessing you could go to a 4.5" if you have a 5" now but need to start worring about over reving unit. Remember putting a smaller pulley on will not only increase the boost at low speed but will increase it at max RPM's

I see where procharger now offers a cloged belt. Might be the way to go since it will take a load of the procharger & crank bearing

Re: Procharger pullies

My pulley i am using currently is a 4.5 so I ordered a 4.0 pulley and was told it would increase my boost 3-5 lbs. That ought to get it done. Going to the 1.26 gears really dropped down my boost across the board and i like the extra power of more boost. Fantastic cruise speed at 4000 RPM's with this gear ratio.

JS- What lower pulley do you have. With the 8.5" lower & 5.5" upper I am running 11lbs @5800.
