Anyone ever shorten a flame arrester?
Successfully anyway. I have two real nice ones and both of them are about 1/2" too tall. Hatch cover hits them when closed.

Re: Anyone ever shorten a flame arrester?
are they just the wrapped screen style . If so I don't see it would be a problem to cut the screen and center stud down.

Re: Anyone ever shorten a flame arrester?
That's what I was thinking, but I'm sure the screen is stainless steel, and probably hard to cut. Then keeping the screen still while cutting may be difficult. That's the only part I'm worried about. The center stud and the and the 5 treaded tubes would be easy.
I'm sure someone has done it and has a trick. |

A thin cut-off wheel on a hand held air die grinder or cut-off tool works for me. - JP

Re: Anyone ever shorten a flame arrester?
I had to shorten both of mine and it was simple. Just used some good cutters and a hacksaw to cut the spacers.
