Problem solved!!!! Fuel Pump was replaced late today and it ran lights out...78 mph and she had a tad more. Thanks to all of you who helped out. What a relief. Thanks Jim :cool:

I have worked on a few boats here (all 496/HO) and have had the same problem/symptoms. Twice it was the low pressure fuel pump: the inlet was clogged with debris. Once it was the injectors. They were (3 of 8) plugged with s*** from contaminated fuel. The first thing it would do is check the inlet to the pump. You can reverse the leads and the pump will run backwards, forcing some of the crap back out the front screenof the pump. Have fun!
