What kind of fluid does Merc. use in a TRS drive?

Is it 90 weight gear oil?

Can't answer that as Merc doesn't specify. But they do state specifically: "DO NOT use regular automotive grease (gear oil?) as damage to bearings and gears may result."
I believe there may be some water absorbing properties involved with marine L.U. lubes vs. automotive hypoid gear lubes.
