LH prop on a RH drive?

I just read in the tech section of Powerboat mag. a recommendation to try a left hand prop on a right hand drive. Now how exactly does this work? Do you now use reverse as your "forward" gear? I've got an outboard so I'm not so sure this will work but I was looking to try different things to help out the handling of my tunnel hull.

I don't know about a outboard but on a bravo1 or xr you would shift it in reverse,if it worked better (fountain did this on some 27 ft's) you could change something in the linkage so shifter would be correct,Smitty

I had a friend who put his props on "reversed" and put the boat in reverse and hit the wall in front of him. Ooops.

Thanks. i just found that out. Guess sterndrives can be ran using "reverse" as the forward gear, outboards cannot. Not a big deal just thought it would be something different to try. Guess I should just get a second motor and run twins!!!
