Spindle replacement?
 

Well I tore up a spindle on my trailer this weekend :mad: are they a ***** to replace? Looks like a good welder could handle it.....never trashed one to the point of being replaced before.Anyone in West Michigan know where I can bring it to be replaced and about what should it cost?

As you said it can be done with a person good at welding. The trick is to get the alignment correct so tire runs true. If not it will wear uneven and with bigger loads this will build heat in the tire and increase chances of blow out. A friend had this happen and he found it was almost as cheap just to replace the whole axle, it really wasn't that much.

I have asked technical assistance at Eagle about this and they pertty much told me the same thing Rick said ... replace the whole axle tube. I didn't ask a price, but supposedly not that much. Sorry I don't have a spare one of those laying around. :D Hope you're back together soon!

I've done a couple of them in my driveway, no big deal. Cut off the old one, squared it up with simple hand tools, shimmed where needed, and welded away. No problems with either that I'm aware of.

call the axle doctor they are nationwide and they will fix it anywhere anytime 1-800-472-3432 they did the spindle on my skater trailer when i was broke down in fla and i am pleased :drink:

Dyno, get a spindle, a couple of beers and bring the trailer anytime.

Or buy one at Wolfe's in BH they have a s**t load.

repair costs $140 with a new spindle cost of a new axle $170......buy the axel :rolleyes:
