Pyrometers In Gil Exhaust

Has anyone used pyrometers with Gil Exhaust? Where did you install the sensors? Is there some area that avoids the water jacketed areas?

thanks
Shawn

You'd have to have a bung welded into the tail pipe. One per side to be effective.

Tail pipe will be too far back to get the "right " reading. I drilled thru my Rev. Marine (a Gil copy) about 3/4 inch from the head. It was solid Alum there but you should contact Gil or maybe a member here who has drilled theirs will speak up. I had a drain close to where I drilled and could feel where the jacket ended,,try that if you have a hole there. If you can't find the answer, drill from the outside and if you hit jacket just tap and plug it.
