Does anyone know a good source for resleeving HP outboard motors in the Detroit or Michigan area?

We got a local guy around here. You probably do, too, if you ask around at the motorcycle shops.
If you sleeve to cast iron, you gotta run different rings. |
Re: Resleeve Merc Pro Max outboard
guys that really know what they are doing can still sleeve the original nickle plated cylinders. I think that they hone it differently then a cast sleeve. From what I hear you loose HP with the cast sleeves.

If you run an old Bridgeport block, the iron liners are actually necessary if you run nitrous. Otherwise the bridge melts out.
I've had blocks with two iron sleeves, and 4 Nikasil holes. They run just fine that way. Whole lot cheaper than a new block. Course if you just got some light scratches, you can overbore and re-Nikasil pretty affordably. |
