Anyone with 3.5 psi pro-chargers on 496HO?
 

I'm considering the 3.5 psi pro-chargers for my 496Ho's. Has anyone installed these and are they pretty reliable if ran respectably? If so what's your boat and what were your gains?

I have a 28 Daytona and I'm running stock 30p Bravo's at 90-93 mph. What would a realistic gain be with this set up? I'm thinking maybe a 15-18 mph gain. I'm concerned about hole shot running larger props, since I've been told these units don't kick in right away. I'm new to this charging stuff. Any input would be great.

Personal opinion - I would put on the Whipple, and not have to worry about low end, because they reach full boost by 2K RPM.

I see you have an Eliminator also, I have a 26' with an HP500EFI with a Whipple, and I have ran a best of 104 on GPS, and an everyday of 98. Not bad for a single engine. Performance and reliability, you can't beat them!!

I know 2 boats 496's both have twins 1 with 3.5 psi the other 5 psi ,2nd year on the 5 psi ,all is well.The 496 HO will the 3.5 psi should be 580 HP.

We installed one kit in a baja 272 went from 64 to 76 MPH
Runs pretty good since two seasons 85 hours , BUT IT DOES NOT RUN WITH THE STOCK FUEL SYSTEM as the manual said. So take care that engines do not run lean we also upgraded the drive to XR - running great

What kind of a realistic gain could a guy expect with the 3.5 psi's on twin 496 ho's in a 28 Daytona, no boxes and high drives? Top speed to date is 93 with all conditions just right and 2 guys. Boat loaded down and mid-simmer, more like 88.

I'm mostly interested in gaining mid- range speed 3200-3800 rpm. Been looking at the new 5 blade Hydro's also, so that should help. I'd like to pick up 15 mph across the board.

Also, is the 3.5 psi kit rated at 580 hp to prop or crank shaft?

What did you have to do to the fuel system to make it work?? I have heard of kits that include a new fuel pump and a boost sensing variable fuel pressure regulator but I have no idea if they come included in the factory kit.
