Revolution Marine Exhaust
Anyone have the RM Riser/Manifold Exhaust system?
Pros/Cons? Do you like them? Any performance increase? |

I have them. I love 'em. They gave me about 200 rpm increase on a 29' 1990 fountain with twin 365HP 454mags. They are not as high quality as Gils but I think are a close copy and would perform the same. Casting is a little rough but for less than a Thousand you can't beat them. Tell him Allen Pool from Murray, KY sent you.

Allen, I'm working w/ the same block as you, gen4 365mag.
Is it an easy install? And is it worth getting the polished to get a smoother finish? And who should I speak to there, or just buy from a dealer? Rob |

It's a small business. Just call them and you'll get the right guy,,forget his name. I think, bang for the buck, get the polished. The black is not awful,just a few bumps under the powdercoat that Gils would not have. I got the black and polished the risers. It's an EASY install and the first upgrade anyone should do to any engine,,,gooood exhaust=more HP with no more gas or less dependability.

I have the polished. Had the stock Merc exhaust on my ZZ502 before installing the Revs. No top end gain but much better mid range, very noticeable. Installation was pretty straight forward, only a caouple of minor glitches. Overall, can't beat them for the $.

Your in salt...sorry, should have seen that on your location. I would say no, you shouldn't use them. But you could contact Todd at Rev Marine and ask if they are anodized. Or see if they can anodize them. If not, I expect you'll be looking at SS manifolds or headers.

Thanks kid... I should have mentioned the salt water. My bad.
Looks like I'll have to spend the big $. Maybe I could find a used exhaust system, or is that a bad idea. |

Some headers have been known to develope rust, stress cracks over time, etc. in the water jackets, where you can't see the bad stuff. If I needed to get headers, I think I'd opt for new stuff. Maybe get used if you can inspect them 1st. Plus, pressure testing a used set would also be a good idea. For new, I'd check with TooOld. He's a good guy to deal with...fair and honest. |
