Re: Timming?
Your ignition timming should be checked at an idle you should have anywhere from 12 to 14 degrees and the timming total I try to run about 30 to 32 tops at 3500-3700 rpm please note that just because the engine does not come up to speed it does not say that the engine has a problem you may be proped to big in dia and you may not get the rpms if you feel you might have a problem perform a leak down test and that will give you the best indication.Good luck hope alls good Laz Mesa

Re: Timming?
Base timing at idle should be set at 13*. The 525sc has a 22* advance module. Total timing advance comes in at 4500rpms and should be 35*

Re: Timming?
Also, my harmonic balancer on my 525sc has a second mark/scratch on it from merc to measure total timing.

Re: Timming?
watch running it on a hose at 3500 rpms. the hose doesn't supply enough water.....and sometimes will even collapse. bring the timing light to the ramp with your 9/16.
i would always set my SC motor at full advance and let the base fall wherever it fell. |
