Merc Racing Blue Paint

Does anyone have experience with changing the color of their engine? I have a Mercruiser 502 Mag that I'd like to paint the Mercury Racing Blue color. Any tips on where to buy the paint and, or steps for prep and painting my engine? Engine out of boat- on stand.

My experience is that its a ***** to do right. I strip mine down to the bare metal before painting. (engines were apart) If you have good paint with no rust now then just rought up the surface, other wise try to get things as clean as possible. The prep work is the biggest part of the paint job. I power coated everything else that i could. Good luck.

you can buy it at your local Merc dealer but it is over $20 a can you should be able to get away with 2 cans per engine

Ray,

We have used quite a bit of your paint, has held up very well!!
Marine engines don't get that hot anyway.
