Gear oil out of the water pickup?

Hi guys, i just had my boat parked in my driveway for a couple of days and i noticed some green oil under my drive i looked closer and it seems that is coming out of the bottom hole of the water pickup, why is this happening?
Any imput would be appreciated

Check the bolts holding the lower unit on ... if they are not loose you have likely lost an O-ring that seals the 2 pieces together.

good luck

That oil seeps and creeps.

Make sure that it is really coming from there, and not from somewhere higher like the fill screw and working its way down.

I had a scare once, bit it was a filler (vent) hole gasket (50 cents).

If this is an Alpha drive then the leak is probably the drive shaft seal in the lower gearcase located in the lower waterpump body. --- JP

I saw the same thing on a new bravo the other day. Pulled the lower and it was a simple gasket/o ring fix. I cant say exactly i was working on another boat, but i did see the problem fixed easily.
