Port side motor hitting rev limiter

I have a 2000 33' Profile with t-454 mpi's. 190 hours on the boat and when the weather turns cooler the port side motor bumps the limiter excessivly. The tach reads between 5200 and 6200! The starboard motor is rite at 5000 rpms. Do you think I have a bad gaffrig gauge or is something else going on here?

Any feedback would be great.
Thanks

The guage does not house the rev limiter, that is in the computer of the motor. So if you are definatly hearing it hit the rev limiter then you have a problem I would say maybe with a prop? I am assuming we are talking about Bravo 1's? When it is colder your motors will produce quite a bit more HP so that is normal that the problem would be worse in the cold. I would check both props very closely.

thanks guys. Boat seems to run fine at WOT in the summer heat. I'm guessing the cooler temps will make the differance. Need to examine both props and check to see if one side is throwing more water than the other.

Also check for any obstruction in front of the offending prop. I recently saw a Skater that was blowing out a prop over a certain rpm. Turned out to be a speedo pitot screwing up water flow to that prop. No more pitot, no more problems.
