Merc Transom mounted Water Pick-ups & hose boots??
Has anyone ever seen a boot made to fit the Merc Transom mounted rectangular water pick-ups?? I can't find them in any catalogues from Merc. Has anyone ever made one?? Pictures?? It would be helpful for flushing & for running on the hose. Thanks!!

Nope, I have a T in line with mine that on one side just has the hose connection. It sits in the engine bay and when I am ready I just grab it and hook the hose up to that. Can't really get any easier then that. If I was really trick I guess I could have used a holder like the Cigs have...
Both the Formula and the Donzi are set up that way. Jon |

Yes. A prior owner of my boat owned a machine shop and made one from alum. block and closed cell foam. Drilled a hole through the block, threaded for a garden hose, and two smaller holes at the ends for a bolt with a washer and nut. Then cut the foam to act as a 1" thick gasket around the transom pickups. The washers catch on the small lip around the bottom of the pickup and hold it firmly in place when the 7/16 nuts are tightened, compressing the foam. Water still squirts everywhere until the engine is running. Only fits one pickup at a time, though. But, I doubt a garden hose has enough water to cool two engines anyway.
If you still need pictures, let me know and I'll get some soon. |

Chart, I would appreciate a picture. A friend of mine is a "machinist" as a hobby. Maybe I can get him to duplicate it for me.
