Where to buy a 454 Mag rebuild kit?
 

Hi Guys,

I just pulled my boat out for the summer and found that both motors have back filled with water over the winter (not quite sure how but they have) We pulled the motors down and they don't appear to bad and will get away with a light rebuild, what I am after is a rebuild kit to suit if there is such a thing, don't mind if it's aftermarket but I am in need of...

All parts are to suit a GEN 5 454 Merc Magnum 1991 x2

JE/SRP pistons around 9.5:1 20 thou over
Rings to suit
FELPRO Marine Gasket set
Bearings
And any other little bit's and pieces you replace.

In my part of the world you can't just go to the local marine shop and buy these parts everything has to be ordered in and half the time they give you a blank look!!

If anyone could point me in the right direction it would much appreciated.

your best bet would be to go to mercurys website and use the dealer locater and find one of the premier level dealers they will ussualy deal mail order and are very knowelgable there is a good one here in socal called maveric marine(thats right no K) thier # is (818)989-4445 Eric over there can help you out.

1991 would be a Gen 4

If you know what you need, call Jeg's or Summit Racing. They can get anything and they have good customer service. Their prices will be half of what Merc charges. Are you in the southern hemisphere?

Hey,

Have used the parts locater before, and will use it if all else fails, but would like to buy it all in one complete kit, I know there available for Automotive 454, but obviously I need the Marine gasket kit etc.

I have been told it's a Gen 5 motor as it has the extra bolt's in the heads??? (by the engine builder) Also the part number's match up with it being gen5

As for fuel pump not sure I assume whatever sea-ray specced in the 91 32 Pachanga.

Have had a look round the jegs site and that may be the way to go, got a litlle confused when it came down to the exact piston that I needed..

And yes I live in the Southern Hemisphere, Auckland, New Zealand.

The fuel pump location will tell which gen you have. Good luck,..I mean Cheers!
