Any ford techs out there. Wiring problems!!
 

My 97 F150 lost its head lights a while ago. Just poof gone. All the signals work, daytime running lights but no fog lamps, high beams or head lights. My lights are manually turned on via a light switch and pull the knob for fog lights. Nothing. I can flash my highbeams by pulling the signal back towards me but pushing it forward to keep them on...nothing.

I checked my fuses under the hood and used my test light to check for power. Good. I put a new light switch in..... that didn't cure the problem. I have power getting to the switch and leaving the switch once turned on but it doesn't make it to the fuse panel under the dash. I presume it goes to the fuse panel from the switch and from there to the headlamps???? Any ideas. I never had any electrical problems before and I never ever smelt burnt wires from the truck so I have ruled out a short or burnt wires. Any ideas would be great.

i would check connections at bulbs or the bulbs,maybe water damage?

also the problem could be at the signal switch for high beam/ low beam since the circuit runs trough that lever that is on the steering column,let me know if you find it,i dont work for ford but i own 2 and work on german cars.

Check for a relay under the hood for the head lts, also there is a fuse panel in the truck. It has a removeable cover, above the e-brake handle...

I checked the bulb end and there isn't anything getting there. It stops somewhere past the switch. I have power going into the switch and exiting the switch but not making it to the fuse panel under the dash. I think you might be right about the signal switch. If I remember correctly just before the lights went out for good, if I wiggled the signal they came on. This only happened 2 times before they went out for good. You know where I will be looking tomorrow.

the head light switch is bad. it has a circut breaker in it and it has failed. r & r the switch you should be good to go

Check the combination switch on the left side of the steering column.The headlight wiring goes thru it. The turn signal lever is attached to it. Good luck.

i got a feeling its going to be the lever switch,it happens on vw's a lot with the cruise control plus his last complaint makes me think so even more.

JUst an update, it was indeed the signal lever switch. $95.00 bucks and 20 minutes and were back in business. Thanks for the input.
