TRS Trim Problem
Installed rebuilt TRS drives and re-plumbed the hydraulic hoses. Now the starboard drive will "drift" IN while under power. I can adjust back to position and a few seconds later i drifts again.
I've read a lot of posts but asking question again--would really appreicate clues--this is last problem before I accept boat from the "machanic" Poorsche www.boatmat.com |
Re: TRS Trim Problem
Sounds to me like he may have reversed the up and down hoses. If you trim up that is power to the blue wire. Trim down that is power to the green wire. One side has more preasure then the other. He may have reversed both so check them both. On some of the real old style trim pumps they have a bleed off so that you can get the drives in trailer mode. Those pumps have a small valve on the bottom of them. If yours do then check to make sure that they are snugged in tight.

Re: TRS Trim Problem
Did you rebuild the trim rams too?

Re: TRS Trim Problem
The pumps are the originals and trim rams are new. The first problem encountered was because drive trim system hadn't been bled for air--the drive "flopped" when going from forward to reverse.
Is there "easy" way to tell if power wires or hydraulic linse are reversed? The mech had to swap out a new line that burst and I'm believing he reversed lines at the manifold inside the gimble. |
Re: TRS Trim Problem
If the trim is adjusting in the direction desired, I don't think the wiring is reversed. I'll bet a valve or seal is not holding pressure allowing fluid to bleed past.

Re: TRS Trim Problem
If the hydraulic hoses are reversed, it will not trim out under power. I discovered this the hard way. :D I would have to agree with J/J that a check valve in the pump is most likely leaking.

Re: TRS Trim Problem
Thanks for the feedback---I'll swap out pump since I've got a spare. Hopefully the rams are good and that will eliminate this problem.
I think I saw a thread about testing rams in situ-- Agaain thanks for tips Poorsche www.boatmat.com |
