What book has wiring diagrams for 496 motor?
It sounded real easy in the service manual I got with boat. To winterize, take off your water seperator, add two stroke oil, discount fuel pump and booster pump from the harness, start the engine and let it run until it runs out of fuel. Sounds easy enough. If you know where those harness leads are. I want to buy a manual that breaks down the electrical. I have a 2002 baja 275, merc 496 ho. Thanks in advance

John,
The PCM 555, Merc. Service Manual #33 has the best wiring diagrams for the 496. Both pumps have a pig tail with about 4-6 inches from the pump with a plug in connector. They are close to the pumps themselves. The boost pump is somewhat accessable on the front lower right hand side of the engine. You may find it behind the fuel filter. The connector is usually blue. The fuel pump is on the rear lower left side, and may not be very accessable. I have been adding a little more oil and run it with out disconnecting the pumps. Then shut it down when it is fogging.

How long does it take to coat the cylinders? I added about 5 ounces and let it run for about 2 minutes. I am storing inside a heated shop this winter. Does it even matter If it never goes below freezing?
thanks

It does not take very long, 20-30 seconds. If you shut down while you still have some light smoke coming out the exhaust, you should be fine. This should provide a thin layer of oil on the cylinder walls, for the winter storage.
