mounting an oil cooler
 
am in the process of mounting a bigger oil cooler on the 540 . 3 in dia. and a little longer than stock , in a near stock location even with some custom brackets i am in the steering and the y pipe for the silent choice .if i mount higher and on the transom , i'm ito the ram for the hatch . anyone been down this road before and maybe have pictures of plan b ?????

I mounted same size oil cooler on my boat,i put it on port (passenger) side of motor mounted in bilge. Had to make new oil lines but no other practical place to mount,Smitty

Mine mounts behind the distributer, on homemade brackets attached to the back bolts of the intake manifold. I tried to mount it beside the engine but it interfered with the offshore engine mounts. I can post a pic tonight.

I've faced this before and the solution for me, was to trim the tiller arm and use custom billet bracket's to set it back a lil further.
