brass freeze plugs.
stainless matrix headgaskets.
proper marine cam (114-115 degrees of lobe separation).

That's the short list.
I assume you will be using marine external components from a tired marine motor (carb, ignition, fuel pump, starter, alternator, circ pump, thermostat housing, plumbing) - if you weren't planning on that, then add that to it.

Will all that stuff from the current 454 mags work?

A marine water pump (engine recirc) especially if running in salt water should be on list--and of course all USCG approved seal on electricla stuff--

Re: Marinize 496 truck engine

I,m doing the same project , The 496 is a odd engine not the same as the 502 or 454 everything is different .Has far has the cost the cam set 600 to a 1000 depending on the company have not priced the gasket set yet but the stock set that was on the engine is okay for salt water use. (coded) The crank is a forged in a truck vs a steel in the marine engine . The ecu to run the engine is going to be costly not sure if a 454 or 502 ecu will run tis engine they changed the firing order on this beast., I have been trying to locate a throttle body and fuel rails for mine, but so far no luck. I been talking with a few people about running a carb .setup but no one has any info on this subject. The balancer and flywheel and fuel pump system also need to be changed. Email me about the details and progress your making . Jeff
