formulaz583,

From the sound of the oil cooler issue, it looks fine. I was hoping this was the culprit. I have twin BB in a 28 ft. boat. The engine in question is the starboard motor if you are driving forward. It took a shoehorn to get the engines in the boat. I actually had to shave the inside os both exgaust manifolds to get them to fit. You can imagine how easy it is to get to the filter adapter on the engine. Thanks for the help, I will try it next weekend.

Try putting your oil filter back on along with the cooler and pull the cooler return line off at the block. Then spin the oil pump with your drill, this will show you if the oil will flow through everything. On the subject of the oil priming tool. a lot of the tools that you buy, quite simply don't work. If it just has a collar that lines it up in the hole in the intake and a shaft that runs down to the oil pump drive, you will lose all of your oil pressure from the leak out the end of the lifter oil passage that is normally stopped by the bottom of the distributor. Just want to make sure you haven't already fixed your problem by flushing it but still chasing it because of a tool that doesn't work.

AfterHours,

Thanks for the info. The priming tool came from my engine builder and he is helping with this project. I will put your comments on my list of next steps in the process. I am getting closer.

Thanks Mike

I'm with Afterhours. You will not build oil pressure with a priming tool. You should be pushing oil through the filter with the priming tool. And you should be pushing oil through the cooler too, UNLESS you have an oil thermostat. The other possibility is that the filter is still clogged with water/milkshake. Then you will bypass both with the valve in the bypass adapter (Mark 4) of the bypass valves in the block Gen 5 &6. What engine is this?

Are you spinning the drill motor clockwise? Last milkshake I had I put in the kero then used the priming tool to pump out the kero through the oil filter housing. Did this several times and cleaned up well. Cleaned oil cooler with kerosine too. Is it possible the oil pickup fell off? Have you cut open the oil filter from the last time the engine ran to inspect for the flakes of death? I can always get 60psi with the priming tool and hv oil pumps.

Not yet, I was out of town all this week and did not have a chance to re-install the oil cooler. I hope to get it back together for a test next weekend. I will update the group on my progress. Thanks for the help.
