Wedge plates???
 

Anyone running these under their carbs to help keep them level. I've noticed driving on the trailer when my bow comes up as I approach the winch it wants to load up and not idle real good when I pull the sticks back :(

Hows your float levels. Have someone looking down the carb as you pull up
on the trailer with the arrestor removed. See if fuel is comming out of
vent tubes.

you want the carbs "fairly level" at running attitude.

Obviously, if your idle "attitude" is significantly different than your running attitude then you may need to find a happy medium.

I don't think I'd factor trailering attitude too heavily into the equation.

Well , I have a nagging problem with warm starts. I can start and run it to operation temp. Shut it off and an immediate start is like fuel injection...the starter engages and its running :)
Now leave it sit for an hour or two and it cranks and cranks and cranks and cranks and cranks and cranks and cranks then starts to crank faster and faster and faster and eventually all 8 are firing and we're running again. In other words it was flooded.
Now sitting in the water the carbs are tilted back but the float level seem ok.
While doing all this in the driveway on the trailer where things are all level , things seem to work a little better. Both engines and carbs act exactly alike :(

Try lowering the floats a little. If I remember turning the 5/8 nut under the phillips to the right lowers the level on Holleys and BG,s. Turn them like a 1/4
turn each. Im guessing you bordeline on the high side. Like Mcollinstn said
you want a happy medium.

If both engines weren't doing it the same, I'd lean towards a leaking gasket or powervalve (Holleys or QJets, you didn't specify?).

But if both are doing exactly the same, it probably isn't a leak related thing. Might be vapor lock though. Any chance your fuel lines are picking up heat from somewhere (hard line touching head or something)?

Carbs are Dominators , two circuit billet metering plates without pv's and annular boosters. Fuel lines are well away from anything hot or even warm.
Fuel pressure is a steady 7 lbs.

When you check your float levels. Try it with engine running fuel should just be trickling out of side plugs. Lower it so it just stops leaking.If anything keep the front bowl a little lower. If the rear bowls are down the fuel in the front
bowl is actualy higher because the fuel will remain level.

Where I run here in the ocean I had to run tunnel floats (Carbs sideways)and keep the float level on the lower side. I also went with spring loaded needle
and seats.

I have a wedge that came on my HP500 engine. It tilts the carb more forward. It is pretty level when idling. This is in a Donzi 22ZX.

I have no problems with starting or running.

Have you checked your fuel pressure gauge after you shut it off? Mine will hole full pressure for a LONG time....

I can't post pics here, yet, so can't show you. The wedge is maybe an inch tall in the rear and about 1/4" in the front.

Mine hold pressure less than a minute.This doesn't seem to be the problem as they will still start right up after 10 minutes. It's the 45 mins. or more that gives me a problem. I understand Moroso make the plates I need , so I may just give them a try.
