Ok I had torn down the drive because it wouldnt go into forward it would take awhile before it would. So broke it all down found 1 thrust bearing inside the clutch assm. broke and one bearing on the bottom inside of the clutch gear worn down. Everything else looked in good shape. resealed it bla bla bla. after installing it, it wants to go clunk into forward. A pretty hard clunk everytime into forward. reverse doesnt do it. so broke it back down everything looks good. anything I should check on this thing maybe theres something on these things im not aware about. please help

With my VERY LIMIMTED knowledge of drives, I would suspect incorrect pre-load (shims)

Are they the right shims(thrust)?

Sometimes On A Bravo When It Goes In Crisp It Is Good. The Bad Side May Be The Reverse Which May Not Be Shifting As Quickly As It Should. Many Times After A Rebuild Or Replacement The Drive Will Seem To Clunk Into Gear Harder Than It Did Before. The Old Drive Was Just Worn Out.

tm29,

What did the grooves on the clutch look like and the mating surface that it locks up with. The grooves are suppose to hold oil and cushion the engagement.
Did you check your cable allignment for the shift mech? If it isnt centered it could be holding it from clunking into rev. Disconnect the cable from that goes to the shifter and shift the drive with the linkage block. Your shifting with the lever that connects to the primary linkage to the drive. If it still clunks in one but not the other then you could try flipping the clutch or gears and see if that helps. You cant get the clutch anymore, I believe. You may end up replacing the upper set with the upgrade kit.

Hope this helps.. any ?? you can email me.. that is quicker way to get my attention..
Dick
