the boat was run in fresh water I am already planning on the top end my main concern is the bottom end if I am going to have the motors out anyway do you think there is plenty of hours left in the bottom end?

To me with 350hrs and the motors and they are coming out of the boat like you said I would tear them all they way down. I do my own work so I probably do more work then some. Bearings, rings and gaskets and pretty cheap then you know what you have. 350hrs wear and tear a lot depends on how they were run. WFO or not.

Other wise a leak down test and if it all checks good as for leakage at the rings have the heads gone through and new tool steel springs and new lifters or have them rebuilt. New timing chain of course. Then you are good to go for many more hours of fun. When the heads are off check cylinder walls for any scuffing of cylinder walls signs on detonation etc.

Just a NOTE: A friend with a 500efi lost a lifter and the motor had about the same hours as yours. They went through the motor complete but it really would not have needed it if the lifter had not blown. Cylinder walls and bottom end looked in good shape.
