timing chain and cover

my short block is a new gen6 it has the OEM single row chain.
1. is this setup ok for 470-550 NA hp
2. will a double row chain fit under the cover
3. is a cam made for a double row chain any better (i havent bought the cam yet)
4. is there a reason the single is not OK
5. is the cover reusable, someone said the cover is not reusable.

thanks
kevin

Re: timing chain and cover

Hey Kevin,
The ZZ502 500HP/502 uses the single roller chain.
I would think a single roller is fine unless you change to a solid lifter cam and real heavy valve springs...
Yes, the cover is reusable...

Thanks, if anyone else has any input for me let me know.

Re: timing chain and cover

Cam doesn't care what chain you run.
Only cares whether it is for a MkIV or Gen5,6.

Re: timing chain and cover

I ordered and used a Cloyds set when I fixed my engine.
To tell you the truth, I think the Chevy High performance set looks beefier...
I plan to rebuild another GenVI this off season and I will buy the stock roller chain.
