mirage props vs bravo1?

Is there really a big difference between a mirage plus or a bravo1 prop? Some say yes, some say no! I have a 32 baja caliber/outlaw, and would like to change the props that are on it now, they are standard mirage's 25 pitch. Should I stay with mirage or go to bravo1's?

It depends on the hull and drive height. There is a HUGE difference with my boat. My 25 Mirage plus chine walks and blows out in rough water. 26 Bravo 1 stays hooked up with only occassional chine walk. My best recorded speeds with both props are within .6 MPH of each other.

Dave is right.
The hull determines what works best.

For example, on my Donzi 22ZX (stepped hull, high X), the Mirage Plus blows out terribly, chine walks badly at about 60, and blows out badly when on plane turning left...
The Bravo 1 is infinitely better. It never chine walks and hardly blows out at all. I actually had a slightly higher top end with the Mirage, though...

In the spring, I want to try a Hydromotive P5X.

I would recommend trying both props on your Baja. You'll know quickly which one works better. You should be able to get test props from one of the large prop dealers...

Is there a difference in the props? Are you kidding?

One is a 3 blade high rake bow lifting prop.
One is a 4 blade prop with less bow lift but more blade area.

Which works better on your boat?
Depends.

Each combo likes something different.

Re: mirage props vs bravo1?

I have been wanting to try some 4 blades on my 29 outlaw, it has labbed 25mirageplus props on it now and it is a pain to make it plane, even when the props were stock. If your 32 is hard to get on plane with the 3 blades then I think the 4 blades will work better, if your boat plane's well with the 3 blades your drives might be deep in the water and the 4 blades will slow you down

Re: mirage props vs bravo1?

I went from Mirage Plus to Bravo's this year.
I had a hard time getting the boat on plane with the Mirage's,
Now I can nail the sticks and it pops right out of the hole!
(not to recommend if you want to keep your drives in one piece)
No difference at top end, but 7 mph more at 3500-3800!

BTW, my drives are pretty high (prop shafts 5" below running surface).

Sounds like the bravo 1's are the way to go, thanks for the opinions!

Re: mirage props vs bravo1?

i believe the Mirage + comes in odd sized pitches and the Bravos are even #'s. It seems though that the Mirage plus are actually higher than their stamped pitch, and the Bravos r lower. Also for what it is worth, the Mirage Plus is a much improved prop over the older mirage. Can run them higher and they turn a lot more water.

I have a pair of mint 27p Mirage Plus (R/L) with hubs and original boxes if anyone is interested.

My experience is similar to other posters. My boat came with a 23 pitch 3 blade Mirage, and I now run a 24 pitch 4 blade Bravo. My boat handles so much better with the 4 blade prop and the top end is almost the same. My boat is a a Sea Ray 230 Overnighter with a 454 Mag 385hp.

I guess I'm kinda jumping the gun a bit. I guess I will wait to see how the 25 standard mirages work on the boat before I go changing them, maybe for no reasonable improvement! I just cant stand not being able to do something with the boat until summer! I hate winter!

by "standard Mirages" do you mean Mirage or Mirage Plus? There is a big difference. Bigger blades and more cup with the Plus= less blowout and less slip.

Re: mirage props vs bravo1?

The props it came with are not mirage plus, just mirage's, and they measure 14 1/2 diameter by 25 pitch. The gps that it also came with had a recorded top speed of 74.5 mph. I guess I will just have to wait and try out the props it came with before going with mirage plus or bravos.

Re: mirage props vs bravo1?

When I bought my boat it had one Mirage Plus and one standard Mirage, both 25 pitch. The previous owner must've trashed a prop and bought the first one he could find.
I saw a 400rpm differance from one engine to the other. The Mirage would blowout under a lot of different circomstances. The plus never would.
