Mercruiser Scan tool
Does anyone know if you can use a scan tool other than the Rinda or Mercruiser ($$) to diagnose/read fault codes on a late model Mercruiser MPI (I have 502 Magnum Multi Port Fuel Injection). Alot of other scan tool manuf. sell tools for alot less money that are ODBII compatable - will they work?

Re: Mercruiser Scan tool
You can use a OTC but you still need the proper cables & the cartridge for mercury.

Re: Mercruiser Scan tool
OTC, is that a standard scan tool? I think the DTC for the mercruiser is different than automotive - is that the reason for the cable adapter? Sounds like the Rhinda tool or Mercruiser scan is the only way to be safe?

Re: Mercruiser Scan tool
I use the Rinda tool almost every day as part of my surveys. It also works on Volvo and Crusader EFI motors. I also bought a new adapter that lets me get into SmartCraft and some outboard EFIs. I have less than $500.00 invested.
Thank you Mindi Doller!!! (She had it in stock!) |
Questions
were did you buy it and have you used it with smartcraft?
Does it use a part # to identify it? Can you send this back yo me at [email protected] This is for Edward R. Cozzi |
