Jim, are you going to open up the volume of those AFR exhaust ports?

I am planning on flowing them but I would also like to see your #'s. THANKS

What intake runners are you using. I have numbers for the 308 and 345 cc.

I would like to see the .600 number up from where they are now. I think the volume needs to be increased to get there. It shouldn't need much more.

Jim- My new heads are the 308 iron eagles. I was only planning on doing a little bowl work. ... 509C.I./540 hp/5400 rpm's. With those #'s, do you think I should stop at bowl work or get into the ports?? Still looking forward to seeing your flow #'s for these heads. THANKS

Hey Jim,
Are these the new and improved Iron Eagle 308 or the early ones?
I heard they corrected the new ones, but I have some early ones that I'm afraid to use.
Thanks,
Dan

Here is a picture of the test pipes I used. 2"1/8, 2.25, 12" 2 1/8 with bend. Also just for fun a flared 2" 1/8 and 2" 1/4 both 6"lenth. The 6" 2"1/8 flared worked the best overall, if your flow bench racing. The numbers below are with the flared pipe on the same Dart Iron Eagle port

Lift. CFM

.2............144
.3............216
.4............278
.5............325
.6............351
.7............366
.8............372
.85..........380

jim would the nbs. you get with the pipe not be more real world as a exhaust port does not flow stright to the out side when you run a motor they always have a pipe of some type on them ,i am not sure the way to measure a exhaust port would be the same as a intake port i would think adding the pipe is more real? just a thought i am running the 357 heads on a blown 540 and we steal ground the cam to help the exhaust even with afr saying not to and it help on the dyno so i agree the exhaust does need help

What kind of cubic inches, compression and how many Rpm's would be needed to utilize the high exhaust flow you are achieving?

I assume you want to get 70% of you intake flow in the exhaust. Am I correct any more than that is under utilized?

Jim,
Maybe what you should do is bolt a CMI lower to the head and see what it does?? It may not be real world with all the pulses and speed of sound stuff, but it would seem to me that it would be more realistic. Of course, it is all relative to a point, correct? Unless some gain can be had from the actual pipe that the motor is run with..

And I agree.. we need to get something going here in West Mich.. an old fashion OSO party..
