Re: AFR Exhaust Ports (Pipe Dreams?)

Dustin has told me 12-1300hp on pump gas and 1400hp on 100ll. seems a little optimistic to me but I hope it works that way. Should know in about 6-8 wks.

A friend of mine is running the Pfaff model and is over 1250hp. not sure what octane. Have you seen the new Brodix PB1200?

Only read about it. Looks impressive but I would like to stay convention headed. To much expense to go big chief ,plus I'm already concerned about my tranny's.

Way to big, good for a 706, I hadn't seen them before, very impressive. My opinion, the new 3xtra would be the way to go.

That's what I'm thinking also, I'm just wondering what Jim V meant in his post yesterday that got deleted with all the others.

I'm not sure either, I run the 2 xtra cnc on my 598, with a little work the exhaust ports were flowing 300 to 305 @.700.

Have you had any head gasket issues. I like the 598 but my engine builder is trying to get me to go to a 572 from fear.

Not with the cometic and less than 16lbs of boost. The 4.6 bore flows better. I do run a big cam on a 112.

We ran the lock-wire last season without any issues, but he thought he saw some weak ares when we tore them down.He also had some gaskets issues with big thunder motors a few yrs ago.I want to stay with the 4.6 partially because of the $$$.He is now running the cometic which understand will be better.I only plan on running 10-12#s of boost. 93 oct or maybe 100LL.

Re: AFR Exhaust Ports (Pipe Dreams?)

I ran the 1012 had problems with fire ring moving around during assembly, or the grooves would be just a little off. Had problems with the original cometics, but I have had good luck the last 3 seasons with them. I turned the motor up to 7500- 8000 rpms from time to time just for fun never lost a head gasket.
