Honestly, unless you got an external pressure oiler, I'd let the motor stay still thru the offseason. You end up scraping the protective fog residue off the cylinders and the cam is rotating dry (okay if its a roller). I'd rather the springs get the raw end of the deal than to add scuff wear to my hard parts.

Why would solid lifters make a difference? without reference to the amount of lift or spring pressures used??

I would think that a statement like "lifts over ___? amount and or spring pressures over ____? amount is whats needed?? One guys "high" numbers might be another guys "mild" setup...........................

Not a bad idea for long sits in cold or hot enviroments and changing humidities. Try fogging the motor with a proper fogging oil, it will insure no rust or corrosion and eliminate a dry start on get ready. Always reprime before starting a motor that's being stored for a long period.

I backed off the rockers my first yearof my new motors. Never again. It's too much of a pain. Too many things to remove for me. I now mark the balancer and rotate every 30 days. I believe that may extend the spring life somewhat. I'm hoping so.
