Top cylinder lubrication???
Years ago (1970), I remember adding Mystery Oil to gas to provide lubrication for cylinders and valves. In the marine environment, it seems like it would be a good idea. It could help reduce moisture and help during "dry" starts. Would appreciate your thoughts.....

Re: Top cylinder lubrication???
i always thought it to thin to want to run much of it in hipo eng. i've only run it in old beaters to free up rings etc. i would also put a can it the gas tank when it was almost empty to clean out carb, it even smells like a solvent moreso than engine oil. i would think a good synthetic like redline or mobil one woulod be the way to go once engine is broken in. just my .02 ratman

Re: Top cylinder lubrication???
Smells more like Pepto Bismol to me.
And it is a detergent/solvent with fair lube film properties and excellent corrosion protection properties. Would be a good addition to a fuel injected motor that sits for long periods. |
