Bear with me guys. I might be looking for a spare to my Huber 1330's. I've got plug-ins to my SSMV's that have tags riveted to the transmission that say 10-18-014. Will all plug-in trannys with a 10-18-014 tag have the correct tailstock for Speedmasters? I appreciate the help. Lou

10-18-014 is just the trans. portion. Merc bolted there own tail stock to it wether it was a TRS or speedmaster series. Marine Drive Systems also had a funky tail stock for them too. You guys also should be changing your u-joint bellows often.Saltwater will ruin your trans. and tail stock shaft coupler(expensive shaft).Just a quick maintanence tip.

Marine trans:
does the water leak past the ID of the rear seal or past the o-ring on the input shaft? if past the ID of the rear seal, is the seal a double lip or are there two seals or just a standard single lip oil seal. are they different between TRS and III/IV? if past the o-ring is there a seal or frost plug in the forward end of the splined bore of the coupling shaft? How does the shaft get ruined, corrosion?? In either case have you seen the trans. oil contaminated?? thanks for you input. |

Believe it or not it, the water passes thru the sealed bearings and ruins the seal surface on output coupling/shaft assm(TRS) .Then after it passes the seal, its free game to corrode internal trans. components.Yes you will see a "strawberry frappe" in the trans.Sometimes, in an unrelated water issue, see expansion plugs pop out of output/coupler shafts.Result is a bellows full of nice red ATF fluid.
