Re: Is this motor winterized safely?
we drain all water from every thing then add the anti freeze then fog only non fuel injected

Re: Is this motor winterized safely?
we also spray entire engine top to bottom with WD40 it keeps everything looking new and shiney otherwise the frost that forms on the engine seems to age them over many years it makes a huge differance.....if your paying to have your boat winterized what would you prefer me to pour the antifreeze on top of the water or drain everything reinstall all plugs then fill with antifreeze?

Re: Is this motor winterized safely?
What about running the engine out of fuel while fogging? We always did this in Chicago to keep the gasoline from turning to varnish and gumming up the carb and fuel lines.

Re: Is this motor winterized safely?
I drain the block manifolds and all hoses and just pull the thermostat housing off and pour in the Antifrezze - just filling the block. That way I never have to worry about water in the hoses dilluting the antifreeze.
Am I the only one who does it this way ?? |

Re: Is this motor winterized safely?
add stabilizer, run 5 gals of rv thru the ear muff, then pressurize the system to exspell the rv antifreeze, after u fill water seperator with 2 cycle to smoke it down,
remove blue plugs and end caps on the heat exchanger.. Is this procedure overkill? had to buy a new heat exchanger last year so doing more this year.. |
Re: Is this motor winterized safely?
fuel injected engines tend to have a very dry manifold so the fogging oil tends to stick to it and over the winter collect in the back cylinders causing a hydro locked cylinder=bent rod or if ur lucky a broken starter

Am I the only one who does it this way ?? Sure, fog it, drain it, then top it off with AF but, I would fill the manifolds too. Sometimes it is even said this is a better method becuase the motor gets filled completely. I've done it similiar to that on occasion, I just found it easier to do it all in one shot. |
