525EFI Winterization
About to winterize here and what exactly do I not have to winterize the 525 with the closed cooling. I want to be able to do this myself and not have to get a new motor in the Spring :D
Thanks Jim |
Re: 525EFI Winterization
All you need to worry about, is getting the
water out of the inlet/sea pump, cooler circuit. I have a 5 gallon bucket with a hose coming out of the bottom. Set the bucket on the swim platform. I connect this hose to a flushing attachment, dump anti freeze in the bucket, start the engine, run it 'til the anti freeze comes out the exhaust. ( you've displaced all the water in the inlet circuit) I spray fogging oil down the intake during this proceedure also. Takes about 5 minutes. |
Re: 525EFI Winterization
DO NOT SPRAY FOGGING OIL IN THE THROTTLE BODY!!
Read the manual. You will gum up the air flow sensors. You can do this on a carb, not with EFI. Proper procedure is upon your just prior to your final running of the engine, when you are pumping in your antifreeze... ...remove your Fuel/Water Seperator, dump out half the fuel, and fill the rest of the way with 2-Stoke (Mercury Outboard) Oil. There is lots of info here on OSO. |
