I use two of the same blocks. I have had one since 1991 and it is now 35 0ver and I bought a brand new, never touched mate to it recently for 1500 canadian. Your block has less life in it so maybe this will help you make an offer |
Re: gm bowtie block
just bought 2 30 over, fresh bore 6 months ago for 1100ea. Definately less than 1000.00, as aftermarket will cost around 1800.00, these are nice blocks and much beefier than gen 6.Good luck :drink:

Re: gm bowtie block
.060 over what? If you are talking 4.560, the walls are very thin, and at there limit. The Gen 4 Bowtie was only designed to be bored to 4.50 with a .030 overbore. When GM came out with the Gen V bowtie, they increased the cylinder bore thickness to allow a 4.60 bore. I have seen two Gen 4 bowties at 4.600 bore and the walls were paper thin. They are real old blocks, I would not give over $500 each for them. Personally, I would not want them. I would buy new 502 blocks before that. Merlins or Darts after that. A 502 block has thicker cylinder walls than the Gen 4 bowtie. The decks have larger water passages.
