IMCO shorty on a Fountain

Has anyone tried a -2 shorty on a 38 Fever or Lightning with a side by side engine configuration? X-Dimension is 17.5".

I rigged a 38' 1999 with twin side by side 725's , 18" x, with 2" imco's . Spun a set of labbed 32's, 4bld. She ran 102.8 on gps. 5 bld 30x15 1/8 labbed maximus' prop's planned much better, ran 1-2 slower and had a tremendous cruise difference, about 72@4000 rpm verses 60.4 @4000. Best all around wheel. Also tried 5 and 6 bld herrings, and just blew holes in the water, and if planned, they weren't so hotttt. If I can be of more help please call, 516-799-6029.

monsta,

When kind of difference in speed was there going from the standard length Bravo drive to the -2" IMCO shortie? Or were there too many changes done all at once? Thanks

Monsta, Do you know what the x-dim was on the boat that you rigged or probably more appropriate question is the distance from the prop centerline to the hull since the prop height was chaged using the lower unit rather than raising the engine? Did you try any of the hydromotive 5-blades on that application?

Thanks John

Re: IMCO shorty on a Fountain

I re-read your post - it looks like 18" x-dim with the -2" shorties. Do you mean the setup was 18" with standard drives then the props were raised 2" using the shorties to simulate a 20" x-dim?

Re: IMCO shorty on a Fountain

Now I am convinced that I need to do something - I re-measured today and my prop shaft centerline is 5.375" below the bottom of the boat. Does anyone have two used complete 1.5:1 IMCO -2" shorties that they want to sell. I could probably go -3" but I believe that I would have to buy an entire IMCO drive.
