drive question

Which drive handles what HP? I've been told 500 hp is a safe number for a Bravo 1. What if your running 700 or 1000 hp?

BBC/ 27'/ single engine/ 5000 lbs

Results will vary depending on numerous things. The biggest variable being the driver.

Well I don't jump on it off the line. Usually just slowly accerlerate. Is a #6 drive good up to 1000 hp?

Re: drive question

Sounds like you have a bravo equipped boat,700 hp range buy a stock xr or a upgraded max machine worx. #6's hold a ton of power 1000plus but if your considering one for your 27 ft boat your talking moving the motor fwd, installing a transmission, extra weight, you'd have to move your backseat and interior fwd most likely and it would change the balance of your boat not to mention that #6's are 30,000$,Smitty

Re: drive question

Bottom line is some people have good luck and some don't. I have heard of people running a standard Bravo behind 700hp and it lives fine. I know others personally who have grenaded Bravo's in 10 hrs with 700hp. Other people with stock 500's in heavy boats have problems making Bravo's live.
My regular Bravo blew the upper at 210hrs with a 525SC in a 5200# boat. My 5200# boat weighs closer to 6500# most of the time when we're out on it. I replaced the upper with an IMCO and have had 150 trouble free hours. Still have the stock Bravo lower.
