who has a molded into hull water intake??

I have a race 42 flat bottom fountain and cannot achieve enough water pressure. I have hardin adjustable intakes that are mounted in a fashion that I cannot turn them since there is a 90 on top. Also, the may be stuck in an aluminum block.

I am curious to pickup height and pressure. Does your tube extend below the hull? any pics available inside or out?
Thanks so much for any input,
Ken

Does Skater do this to their boats and are they the only one?

Might have a solution to your intake problems... but it's still in development.
How soon do you need something?

By molded in, do you mean the pickup inserts that are through the bottom of the hull, or do you mean the pickups are mounted so that they are "molded in" ie: can't be moved?

I'm having a hard time visualizing what you are talking about. If you are talking about the pickups being on the bottom (running surface) of the hull near the transom, then no, Skater is not the only manufacturer that does that. Although I've mainly seen pickups like that on cats, not V bottoms.

to clarify, they cannot be moved since they are a pocket that is like a scoop gradually going up into hull where the deepest part which is about 1 1/2" deep which is where the water tube intake is.The scoop is about 2 1/2" wide by 5 " long.
I am wondering if other people recall thier setup and pressure reading. also where they are picking up the pressure at on the motor.

thanks

Are you sure there isn't a sea pump issue? I have thru the bottom pick-up's on a non-stepped bottom and my issue has been related high water pressure. My pick-up is flush to the bottom with no scooped area in front of the pick up ( I filled it in ). If the low pressure isn't related to the sea pump, maybe the pick-up is located where it is sucking to much air. I also use the KE twin impeller sea pump.

What kind of pressure do you have?

MTI has one that is a plate that flush mounts to the bottom of the hull. The water is force fed at an angle so that it does not extend below the hull. I do not know how much they cost, but it was the cleanest pickup system that I have come across.

Outer Limits has a neat set-up for water intakes molded into the bottom.
