Edelbrock Marine Heads

How do they compare to the AFT full cnc or the Dart Pro 1?

Re: Edelbrock Marine Heads

Is anybody using the Edelbrocks?? I was looking at them for my blown 502's. Does anybody have any flow numbers on these heads??

From what I saw on the flow bench several years ago, you're compareing a VW to a Cadillac. Find a good shop with real numbers then compare.

More like a SS camro to a Yenko. Both will run, just one is built to "really" run.

Re: Edelbrock Marine Heads

So if they are so bad, why are people spending $20K+ on 525efi's - don't they have the same heads? I hear of 525's making 540hp on the dyno and they only have 8.75:1 compression on 87 octane.

Seems like they are simply a GM 502ho short block$4500, $1500 heads, $3500 exhaust, $4500 for accesories. $10K overpriced?? One could build a HIGH quality 540 for $20K Crower, Dart, AFR, etc.

John,
Below is a package that will run around $5500 to install on a base 502 carb engine.
502cid - 100% stock short block other than min. deck cut to make flat
8.8 compression. Did not zero deck - pistons .012" down + .040" headgasket
850 Sea Demon 82P 90S
HVH 1" Super Sucker
HV/Brodix 2000 Intake
Canfield 310 heads / CNC Chamber / No Port Work
Cam - custom Hyd Roller Just under 225 at .050 I w/112LSA

2" Primary Schoenfield Headers - dyno mufflers
Will test Gill Exhaust again when done testing in this state

Belt driven Sea Water pump working - cross over - alternator working - no PS pump.

89 octane fuel - yep, Winter Blend right from the gas pump.

35 Degrees total timing - HEI external coil distributor ( yes, the computer one) with Jacobs amplifier/coil

50-75hp increase on a hp500efi on a $1500 budget.

John,
Cam and bowl work on what you have will get you that increase.

Re: Edelbrock Marine Heads

Switching from the iron gm heads to edelbrock rect port should net you 70hp/80tq at 5000rpm. Great investment for $1,500. Plus you will have all new good valves and springs. I run these heads and think they are the best choice for shoestring budget guys like me that only want to make 500-550 hp. If this is you, go for it. I would leave the cam alone for now.

Re: Edelbrock Marine Heads

Where can you purchase Edelbrock Marine heads for $1,500? The cheapist I have seen was Summit for $1,500 with valves only.
