Cutting High Pressure steering hose

What do you use to cut high pressure steering hose? I tried a pair of sheers I had laying around. NO WAY!

A chop saw or an abrasive disk in a die grinder.
Smokes a bit when going through the rubber but otherwise it works great!

Hey Dave,

Reciprocating saw or hacksaw would do.

try doing it like you would cut a braided line....you can wrap the line with some masking tape then you can use a hose clamp as a guide and cut with a hack saw. :)

It seems hard to cut with a hacksaw. I have a mitre saw, I wonder if I can get a blade made for cutting metal.

Be sure to flush it out REAL good after cutting.

How should I flush the lines? I was thinking of blowing air through the lines with a compressor.

I've been using some heavy duty electrical cable cutters. Slices right through and leave a clean square cut.

First cut it a half inch long then insert a dowel and cut again. This should give you a smoother cut as the shape is supported during the cutting process.

tape it, then a metal cutting chop saw, (don't push hard). flush well and blow out. good luck.

I used a dremell with a thin abrasive disc. You can make 2 to 3 cuts before the disc is used up. It cut it very cleanly. Tried the hacksaw but it was way to much effort.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! I bought an air powered Cut-Off tool. It works pretty good. Plus, I can use it for other jobs too.
