bravo xz gimbal bearing
I've been hearing if you install an xr drive you need to change the gimbal bearing. I went to my parts dealer and when he looked it up the gimbal bearing was the same for all bravo drives.Anyone have any insight into this?

Re: bravo xz gimbal bearing
There are 2 different bearings. The standard Bravo use to use a bearing that wasn't machined on one surface. The new bearings are machined on one side to allow for clearance because of the larger u-joints that are used on the X, XZ and XR drives. Alot of people call the new bearings.. red dot bearings because they have a red dot to show that it was machined. This one can be used on the new and the old B1's but the old bearing cannot be used on any of the new ones.

Re: bravo xz gimbal bearing
So are ther new transom assemblies coming with the machined bearing and don't need to be changed for the XR?

Re: bravo xz gimbal bearing
Usually the new transoms are coming through with the new style in them. This way there is no confusion between the 2. Easy way is to pull the drive and look for the red dot on the cage of the bearing.

Thanks. I haven't installed the transom assembly or the drive yet so it should be easy to tell.
