When bought the boat last summer it had a Team G single plane#7524 for dominator set up with a flange adaptor, and a Ultradyne 284/292 [email protected] 230/238 valv lift .601/.601 LSA112* ICL108*,cam need to be replace and decided to go with the isky and to also replace the intake manifold. the power band was a bit sloggish from 2000 to 3500.was running 5400 WOT and hope to maintain it. combo is a cat boat awesome fx260 approx 4000 lbs, bravo one xr 1.5 ratio.ZZ502,comp 9.6 to 1,alum. 390 oval port with light work around pocket(clean up and angle seat)2.25 in.1.88 ex.valves.cam iskyHR 275/284 [email protected] 228/238,val lift .553 .578 LSA112*,changing spings, lifters, push rods all from isky, and have roller rockers(crane).dist HEI ,carb 850 dp mec.,Exh.Litghning header. Was thinking of going with the Air Gap dual plane? planning to run WOT around 5500. so wath you guys think of this swap? thank's JP |
Re: intake manifold choice?
I had a similar setup with the air gap intake with a little bigger cam and carb. Wasnt bad but seem to flatten out on the top a little. Went with a Merlin single plane, 1" spacer and a demon 850. Woke it up quite a bit in mid range and saw a little increase on top. Your cam seems a little small on the lift. My boat was a 27' V bottom at about 4500 lbs.

Yes, run the Air Gap on those heads.

Chris thank's for the advice JP. |
Re: intake manifold choice?
notice in other threads lots of talk about spacers, how do you know you need one ?is it a HP/TR bolt on or just used for fine tuning ?

Re: intake manifold choice?
Air gap is designed for 6500 rpm. It is a nice match to the GM ovals. Manifold will widen the powerband out and give you more useable power.
