Speed loss thru Bottom paint

Looking for "real world" experiences regarding speed influence of applying bottom paint on a 27 foot boat with 425 hp (272 Baja)...Some say thats neglgible because an uneven surface offers less water resistance than a totally flat and polished surface.....Thats the theory but what are your experiences after applying or taking off bottom paint on your boats?
In my opininion bottom paint (even if it matches the hulls colour perfectly) is ugly, but on the other hand the inevitable algae growth on an untreated hull has more negative impact on speed after some weeks in the water...
Diving round your boat wiping all the stuff away every weekend can really get a pain in the neck...
What are the experiences of you guys?

No boat lifts over there? It will cost you some speed but so does a green bottom a lift is best what about storage out of the water paint is a last resort if you are worried about speed.

Don't forget, Fiberglass will absorb water over time becoming heavy. Been told even though gel coat. Bottom coated a 30' Scarab once and it did as well or better on speed,,no gps.
