Piston to wall clearance

What are the ring gap and piston to wall clearances that everyone is using for marine as compared to automobile engines.

Re: Piston to wall clearance

It's all relative to applicaton, bore size, piston material, cylinder location, and piston manufacturer. One trend that is gaining populartity is opening up the 2nd ring gap. Alot of testing on ring flutter has proven this to me a HP robber at mid and upper rpm ranges. Some NA engines are running as much as 50% gap on the second then the top.

Best thing to do is start with your piston mfg on recommendation.
