I thought I saw that also US1, I think it was strip poker. His motors had been apart before as I recall and many things were not "stock merc".
The rods in my 00' 500EFI's are stock GM, per seeing them last weekend. :D |
Re: What is difference 502EFI / 500HP?
Isin't a 502Mag MPI what we are talking about? 502 EFi same as a 502 Mag MPI?
What is the difference between just the FI systems? |
Re: What is difference 502EFI / 500HP?
75 hp ?

Re: What is difference 502EFI / 500HP?
When people say EFI are they speaking about the HP500EFI system? And 502MAG would be the MPI system?or are there other systems?
Is one an open or closed loop system? What makes either system better? |

Re: What is difference 502EFI / 500HP?
Differences between the two per Merc.
Precision CNC machined 502 C.I.D. cast iron cylinder block. Forged 4340 steel, fully machined and shot-peened Mercury Racing connecting rods. Forged aluminum pistons, designed by Mercury Racing, for maximum strength and durability. MEFI 3 Electronic Control Module digital ignition system features advanced electronics for more precise fuel and spark control along with better top-end throttle response. Multiport fuel injection system incorporates a high-flow throttle body and tuned intake manifold developed exclusively by Mercury Racing. A thermostatically-controlled, high-capacity oil cooler raises engine oil temperatures faster and keeps them more consistent. The oil thermostat and a Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve work together to reduce the buildup of condensation in the oil. The PCV valve also improves engine idle. A hydraulic roller camshaft, which improves low-end torque, offers higher level of performance and aids fuel economy. |

Is the 502EFI and the 502HP that you just described the cams for, what mercury calls their HP500 engines? |
