I agree with them on Bravo's,unless you were going with big power or your boat weight was real high with large power. Drive's take alot of abuse when trying to plane with either above. And that is when most of the damage is done unless you are in a racing enviroment (in an out of sea's) at full power. Not saying any of us dont drive like that (I know I do ocasionally) that's why I am going with V's.

Thanks for the help guys... I will probably go with the Bravo set up. My boat is an 87 Donzi 33 foot long. 87 was the last year they hand laid all of the fiberglass for the hull... so this thing weighs about 8,000 wet... give or take...

As far as power goes... at first I was thinking huge.. but at this point I will probably go with either 502 Mag EFI's or a pair of HP500's... either way, your looking at less then 500hp per motor. I would like to get in the mid 70's and still have a good reliable boat.

Hopefully the Bravos will get me there.

Thanks!

a 38 donzi zf twin step runs just under 80 ,-10 mph for the steps, should put you in the early 70's, also the 38 donzi is way over 10,000 lbs. good luck

You will run much faster with the bravo set.Not a big
fan of bravos but with naturally aspirated 500 hp they
should have a long life. With the extra drag of transmissions
and weight of total package you would lose 5-8 mph.
Sounds like you may have made the right choice.Good Luck

I agree with HopPursuit, the trans. and the SSM's will rob 50-75 HP. The 3A's hold a ton of fluid and definitely take more power to push.
