Getting new gel coat... couple of questions

Hello Everyone... my 87 Donzi Z-33 is at the gel coat man right now (Eliminator Boats in SC).

They are trying to sell me on apllying an "anti foulent" (spelling?) to the bottom of my boat. I plan on trailering this boat or keeping it in a dry dock... so it will not be sitting in the water. Do I really need this coating on the bottom of the boat???

I am changing the color of the Donzi from Teal to White with Red stripes... just like it would come from the factory. Only thing is... from the factory, Donzi put Teal Gel coat on the bottom of their hulls... so this would need to be changed to white. My impression from Eliminator is that they would rather apply white color anti-faulent to the bottom of the boat rather then sanding everything down and applying white gel coat?

A penny for your thoughts???

Thanks guys

Ok.. Ok... That is what I thought. So I should push him to just sand everything down and re gel coat? That was my first thoguht... just wanted to make sure.

I know it is more work for him to re gel coat the bottom... I think he is just trying to get out of this work by adding an antifoulent rather then gel coat!!!

Gelcoat.....would also be a good time to for any tweaks to the bottom in the process.
